A favorite pastime of mine is drive by shootings. It’s not as bad as it sounds… the shooting is being done with my camera. Some of my best work has been the result of such drive-bys. Those that travel with me often know that they might have to pull over on a whim when I spot something of interest. One just never knows what you’ll find when out on the road.
This particular image was taken in such a fashion. I was traveling in Missouri from one family member’s house to another and saw this diner at an exit we stopped at. In fact, it was taken in the middle of the day and it wasn’t the best picture since I only had my snap and shoot camera with me, not my “real” one. I loved the subject so much that I was determined to make the image work. This is usually a no-no in the photography world (you should shoot it right the first time and emotional attachment doesn’t make it great), but after some work and Photoshop magic I got what I wanted out of it.
