There’s a little town not too terribly far away from where I live called Fayetteville.  At first it may appear to be a sleepy little town, but looks can be deceiving.  It’s actually a popular place for tourists and locals alike.  During the summer, visitors come from far and wide to go white water rafting.  There are also several other outside attractions provided by one of the rafting companies (Ace Adventure Resort) that bring thrill seekers to the area for activities such as zip lines, rock climbing, horseback riding, ATV trails, etc.

And one of the biggest events in WV, called Bridge Day, draws a great deal of folks to the town thanks to its close proximity to the New River Gorge Bridge.  During this extreme event, B.A.S.E. jumpers come from all over the country to jump off the bridge and parachute into the gorge.  However, I hope to go into more detail about that in a later post after I attend this year.

I personally like to visit the town without any special occasion or particular reason.  They have several fun shops that I like to frequent as well as restaurants.  One of my favorites is the Cathedral Café where I’ve had many a tasty lunch.  Pies and Pints is also a local hot spot, but I’m afraid I’ve not had the chance to try it just yet.

Fayetteville is a fun place to visit for the adventurous spirit as well as the laid back soul, who would prefer to get their jitters from a good cup of coffee rather than an adrenaline rush.

PS: If you’re looking for something fun to do, I highly recommend attending Bridge Day on October 19th.
