Lewisburg, WV is a charming little town that I like to visit often. The streets are lined with an assortment of fun stores, galleries, and yummy restaurants. I love to spend the occasional Saturday afternoon there shopping and going to lunch with friends. Doing so always makes for quite a pleasant outing and I usually go home with a unique purchase from one of the boutiques or galleries. If I’m feeling indulgent, I also stop by the bakery to take home dessert for later. In most cases said treats remain untouched for the duration of the trip back, but not always. It is a 45 minute drive after all, and one does need sustenance for such a journey…
The town is actually a happening little place. The restaurants and shops alone make it a popular attraction, but Lewisburg also hosts two very delectable events every year that bring attendance from far and wide – and for good reason. The first one is the Chocolate Festival which is coming up soon (April 12th) and the other is Taste of Our Town which is held in October. Both are an excellent way to spend the day outdoors and savor scrumptious food from a variety of different vendors.
I would very much like to partake in the Chocolate Festival this year, but I’m afraid it wouldn’t be much fun for me, as I am still nursing my daughter who has a dairy allergy. So unfortunately chocolate is off limits for me (along with many, many other delicious and decadent dairy things which I miss greatly). However, if you plan to go yourself, I suggest getting tickets in advance so that you are able to enjoy the exchange rate (tickets for chocolate) when you arrive. This allows more time for savoring sweets instead of spending your time searching for tickets.
Regardless if you find yourself visiting Lewisburg on an ordinary day or during a festival, I hope you have a great time and take in all the town has to offer. Whether it’s dining, shopping, or even learning about the history surrounding the area (which is plentiful), I’m confident you will enjoy yourself.
