In the past few years, I’ve started a new tradition of getting my mom, aunt, cousin, and daughter New Year’s Eve gifts. It’s a fun way to kick off the year, and I try to make the gifts uplifting to inspire positivity in the coming months. Last year, I discovered these delightful little Thoughtfulls Pop-Open Cards. (Which were also conveniently small for sending since we were all in self-imposed quarantine – thanks 2020…)
I bought all of us a different box, or theme (they even have kid ones), so that we could open one card every Monday for thirty weeks. (I like Motivational Mondays.) To make it a little more fun, I asked everyone to take a picture of their card each week and share it with all of us. I thought this would add more inspiration and help us feel connected even though we were all so very far apart. I do believe that they were a hit.
I have come to love these little boxes of cards, and have since bought others. They are great little gifts for all sorts of occasions, and even for no occasion at all. My daughter absolutely loves them. And the best part is that you can reuse them, or pass along the entire box to a friend to brighten their day (or month).
If you’re looking for a cute gift, I highly recommend these. In fact, buy yourself a box too and then you can swap with your friend, or family member, when you both finish so you get twice as much fun. You can find them in stores like World Market, but since I don’t live near one of those, I typically buy them from Amazon.
I also recommend starting a New Year’s tradition like mine. The gifts don’t have to be expensive to be thoughtful or fun. And let’s be honest, buying additional gifts on top of Christmas shopping isn’t always easy, so maybe handmade gifts or a game could be something you might enjoy with your loved ones… The thought put into the tradition is what really matters anyway.
I’d like to wish all of my readers a very Happy New Year! May this year be full of love, laughter, good health, and good fortune.
