Creatives think differently than most people. At least that’s been my experience. I don’t think many folks would be walking through a grocery store picking up items on their list, and then get totally derailed when they spot a sad, little, wilty tree in the florist section. But that’s what happed to me not long ago. Wait, it gets weirder…
I excitedly placed this discounted olive tree in my cart, paid for my groceries, and hurried home to clear my schedule (and living room) in order to do an impromptu photo shoot – with a tree. Yep, I’m that kinda strange. While others probably saw a tree or plant (that likely wouldn’t live much longer), I saw a creative vision.
So, I drug out my photo props, studio lights and equipment, and got to work. Afterwards, I combined one of these self-portraits with other photos and textures to create a unique image. Some of the elements in this piece include: trash from the landfill, power lines, recycled cans, and flowers.
About the Image: This image depicts Mother Nature in mourning and holding an olive branch. I wanted an earthy and hippie sort of vibe, paired with significant symbolism.
PS: Told ya it got weirder, haha.
