Adulting is hard, ya know…? There’s just so much crap we all have to keep up with. And when we were young, we so stupidly couldn’t wait to grow up. Bet we’d all like to have a chat with our ten-year-old selves right about now, ha. Well, short of a magical wand to wave around that makes life easier (and maybe a glass of wine), I highly recommend getting (and using) a planner.
For the past four years, my Christmas present to myself has been a customized planner from Personal Planner. And this year is certainly no exception. I couldn’t function without it – seriously. I tried once. It was a disaster. I bought a cheap planner at the store and used it for a whole week before I chucked it in the recycle and promptly ordered my “usual” from the trusty Personal Planner site.
Why is this planner so special? And why am I willing to spend $40 on it? Because I can customize virtually everything about it, and it’s worth every single penny. I personalize the cover with my own artwork (they also have pretty options if you prefer to use theirs); I customize the page layouts, the starting month and starting day for the week, the fun additional pages in the back for things like goals and travel (they also have pages for teachers), and I even have my special dates saved and printed on the days so I don’t have to write them allllll down. That’s a big dang deal for me; I have A LOT of dates to remember. And I especially like the weekly spaces I can customize with pre-printed inspirational quotes and a workout schedule, for instance.
The ability to tailor a planner to exactly what I want is amazing, which is why I tell anyone and everyone about them. I recommend them to family and friends, and even to random strangers in the store looking at planners (no joke; I’ve met some nice people that way). And now, of course, you! Thanks for letting me gush about my OCD tendencies and my love of organization…
Truly, I can’t say enough good things about these planners. I use mine every single day. Which is probably why I don’t consider $40 to be expensive. Although I can save you 10% off if you’re interested. (Use code: U-KJTU-TFVG) And nope; I don’t get any affiliate kudos for this post. I just love them and want to share this awesome product with you. (Not to mention, this post will come in quite handy the next time I’m in the store recommending Personal Planners to another stranger, haha.)
So, yeah… Check out Personal Planner to see how you can create the perfect planner for YOU. And if you order one, please let me know how much you love it!
PS: Some tips and tricks I use to stay organized… I also use Google Calendar and have separate (color coded) calendars set up for events, birthdays, anniversaries, bills, school, work, etc. And every Sunday, I pull up my Google Calendar on my phone and fill in the days for the coming week with things I need to remember or do in my planner. Then I add in tasks for each day and continue to do so throughout the week. Also, I absolutely have to have the “four-square” layout on each page as my weekly spread, and I use the 8th empty square to make note of goals that I have for the week that aren’t specific to any certain day. And that my friends, is how I have come to master the chaos (as best I can), haha.
PPS: Get yourself some Pilot FriXion erasable gel pens. They are AHHHMAZING. You can find them at Walmart, Amazon, and just about anywhere. I order mine from Amazon because I’m particular (no secret there) and prefer a fine point (0.5mm instead of 0.7mm). Trust me; you’ll love them.
PPPS: If you like the image on the cover of my planner and would like to see something similar hanging on your walls, you can shop my artwork here.
