Ya know what’s depressing? Having a travel section on my blog and not having any new and exciting trips to post. I mean, how terrible for you as a reader…! Okay, maybe I’m really just whining because I’m jonesing for a vacation. Granted, I’ve been traveling quite a bit, but not to anywhere I haven’t already featured, or been to more than a dozen times. I’m thinking that should change – VERY SOON, haha. *…sigh…*
While I have been plotting (I mean planning) some trips for the near future, I have something fun I’d like to share with you in the meantime. Let me introduce you to the Explore Every Day book by Lonely Planet. (Nope; this is not an ad. I just really like it.)
Let’s be real; we don’t always have time or the resources to travel, but this book is a mere $15 and will have you exploring your own environment in ways you never thought of before. It quite literally gives you the vacation/adventure vibes without having to go beyond your own town/city, or even home. There are 365 prompts to nudge you out of your daily grind and add a little spark to your day. These mini adventures can take anywhere from a meager minute, to the occasional one-hour timeframe, and all are pretty simple.
It’s quite brilliant, really. One of the reasons we love to travel so much is that it’s a break from reality and a chance to see and do something new. This book provides just that with a bunch of ideas of fun things to do that will break up the tedium of your ho-hum routine. It adds newness and adventure to your life, and believe it or not, mini breaks will even help your productivity. (It’s science.) So, really there’s no excuse for not trying them out.
Honestly, they had me at “explore.” This little book packed full of adventures, was right up my alley; and, being the total goober I am, I even have gold star stickers to place on the prompts I’ve completed. (Because yes; I’m technically a Millennial and I want my gold star, damnit. Haha.) I also tabbed all the pages I thought looked extra fun, which I strategically cropped out of the featured image (there was no way I was taking all those out just for a photo op). My only complaint is that there aren’t any page numbers. So, for instance, I can’t call up a friend, who also owns the book, and say, “Hey, let’s do the activity on page 86 today!” Regardless, page numbers or not, I highly recommend this fun book if you’d like to add some excitement to your days, weeks, or months.
