Gird your loins, folks! Summer break is upon us! Haha, seriously though, while this season is usually a time of family vacations and fun in the sun, sometimes this extended break can leave parents feeling a bit frazzled. The kids are off, but that doesn’t always mean the grownups are. And sweet mercy, I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t be the entertainment committee every… single… day. It’s absolutely inevitable that I will hear, “I’m bored….!” on repeat throughout the coming weeks. And my reply to my darling kiddo is always, “Good! Because boredom brings about great imagination and innovation.” Though my daughter is rarely ever impressed by this statement (okay, she’s never impressed and scoffs at it every time).
While I know we all very much enjoy spending time with our kids, I also know that responsibilities don’t disappear just because summer is here.
