What was the last thing you really splurged on? As in, you decided to treat yo’ self and you had that little moment of “Eeek, I can’t believe I’m doing this,” right before the thrill of having, or doing, whatever it was… (And hey, that pair of shoes from TJ Maxx can totally count.)
I’m not trying to promote the consumerism mindset because I actually think experiences far outweigh material things, but once in a while treating yourself to something you really want, and that brings you joy, just makes life a little sweeter. – And let me stop here to clarify that the joy I’m referring to is not the momentary high you get from purchasing stuff. I mean that the item in question actually makes you happy every day. (For instance, my cute ceramic coffee canister full of Rasa makes me smile every time I scoop grinds out of it.)
Well, some months ago, my cousin (who, shockingly, has even more expensive taste than I do) introduced me to Pyrrha, a niche jewelry company based in Canada. They have amazing sterling silver and gold, stamped wax seal, talismans that are created using recycled metals. I was instantly smitten. But, in all honesty, I experienced a bit of a sticker shock when I first landed on Pyrrha’s beautiful website. After drooling over their amazing pieces, I also did a search on Etsy for something comparable. (Because, eek…)
Etsy did indeed have similar products for a fraction of the price, and I do love to support artisans and small businesses (even more than sustainable and forward-thinking companies), but I still had my eye on a certain shiny Pyrrha piece. I was drawn to the design as well as the meaning behind it, and I decided that, as crazy as this may sound, I liked that it was expensive. Hear me out; I know that makes zero sense.
I had decided that I was going to splurge and gift myself this necklace as a daily reminder and encouragement to attain my dreams and trust my intuition. And because the price was much higher than I would normally spend, it somehow made the necklace more significant, and thus held me more accountable to commit to myself. It makes sense in my head… So, on New Year’s Eve, to ring in the new year, I added my coveted talisman “to cart” and purchased the Pyrrha necklace I had my heart set on. I still feel it was money well spent. I wear it every dang day. And each time I put it on, I smile and remember the message behind it.
So, if you’re interested in getting a symbolic piece of your own, I recommend looking into these unique and beautiful talismans. You might just find the perfect one that speaks to your soul.
PS: If you’re wondering, this is not an add or an affiliate link. I do not receive any kudos, payments, or even free stuff for the words above (unfortunately, ha). I simply like to share praiseworthy products with you, just as I would any friend.
PPS: Do you like meaningful jewelry? Check out the post on my Unbecoming Ring! I bet you’ll want one too.
PPPS: And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that you can find all sorts of fun jewelry in my boutique as well… However, I don’t make wax seal pendants, even though I would love to! (I did my research on that, and discovered they are exceedingly expensive to create…)
