This season usually brings about a plethora of baked goods and a whirlwind of straight-up kitchen magic! There’s probably no shortage of sweet stuff in your house, but if you find yourself needing a recipe for the best apple pie ever, I’ve got you covered. Serve it à la mode with Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream, and you’ll be in dessert heaven. Any holiday guest is sure to love it, and I bet Santa himself is a fan and probably likes pie way better than cookies… (though the ice cream would be a melted mess).
Ingredients:
- Package of Pillsbury Pie Crust (two crusts)
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 3 Tbs flour
- 6 large, firm, tart apples
- 2 Tbs butter
Directions:
First, preheat oven to 425 degrees, and line a nine-inch pie pan with one of the pie crusts. Next, mix the sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour in a large bowl. Then, peel, core, and slice the apples and add them to the mixture. Be sure to stir and coat them well. Next, pour the filling mixture into the lined pan and add pads of butter throughout. Take the other pie crust and drape it over the pie, crimping the edges. Be sure to cut several slits in the top to vent. Last, bake for 10 minutes at 425 degrees, then lower the heat to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes more until the apples are tender when pierced and the crust is browned.
PS: The featured image is a mini apple pie. (So cute, right?!) It’s basically the same recipe. Simply use a muffin pan, and cookie cutters to cut your pie crust accordingly (you’ll need more pie crusts and smaller apple pieces though).
PPS: You can totally make your own pie crust if you like, but this is waaaaay easier, haha.
