If your kiddo is anything like mine, they love slime! It’s all the rage these days and my daughter is obsessed with making it herself. Somehow, it’s more appealing to turn the kitchen into a science lab and spend more money on the ingredients than it costs to just buy regular slime outright. And… if you’re anything like me, you hate slime… Yeah, no; I’m not a fan. I think it’s super gross. However, because the kids love it so, I’ve got a slime recipe for you that isn’t nearly as disgusting as the others, and it actually works out if you follow the ingredients and directions below. (As opposed to my daughter combining random things in a bowl all willy-nilly and simply hoping for the best.) So, from one parent to another, this one works. I “perfected” and tested it out myself. (See the things I do for you, haha?) And it’s a huge hit with the kiddos.
If you’d like to give it a whirl, have “fun” (ha). If not, I totally won’t judge you a bit if you pretend you never saw this post. 😉
Ingredients
- 4 ounces of white Elmer’s Glue
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup shaving cream (the foamy kind)
- 2 Tablespoons of contact solution
- Embellishments of choice (i.e. glitter, food coloring)
Directions
First, combine together glue and baking soda in a large bowl. If you like, add in a small amount of food coloring and mix thoroughly. Next, fold in shaving cream – gently, so as not to deflate the puffiness. Then, add in the contact solution. (This keeps it from being a sticky, unholy mess.) Last, add any glitter or embellishments you’d like. During the last step, use your hands to knead and squeeze the slime mixture. It will stop being sticky after a minute or so. And most importantly, find a container to keep the slime in so it doesn’t wind up in unwanted places (like your carpet).
