This amazing Fun Find makes for a perfect gift – for yourself or someone you love (or both)! I don’t remember exactly how I discovered the LalaknitsStore on Etsy, but I’m super glad I did. Well, maybe… I adore all of her hats, or toques as Canadians call them, and I could very easily be tempted to hand over my credit card and purchase them all. It’s a slippery slope… Careful, or you might get addicted to these unbelievably beautiful and well-made toques. I definitely own more than one, and each visit to her online store, I’ve had the HARDEST time picking my favorite because they’re all so amazing.
These are no ordinary hats, mind you. They are not made in bulk by a machine with subpar materials. They are made by hand, with love, by a small business owner. And I can personally vouch for the exquisite craftsmanship, quality, and customer service. Lara, the owner and creator, knits these textile works of art out of hand-dyed merino wool. The wool alone is positively luxurious and quite high-end. I’ve come to learn that merino wool is a favorite for hats because it keeps you so warm and cozy (without making you sweat) – and I imagine Lara knows a bit about chilly weather since she lives in Canada.
And if the wool alone wasn’t enough to make you swoon with all its softness and beautiful colors, you should see the magic that Lara weaves into her designs. I can’t pick my favorite of those either… Honestly, it amazes me. I can barely knit a coaster. I would love to know how to knit even one of the patterns she uses, but it makes my head hurt even thinking about it. Which is why I decided to purchase her awesome hat instead – I figured I’d save myself the headache and cost of wool (which isn’t cheap!).
So, if you’re looking for a fabulous gift idea, or want to treat yo’self to something really special, take a peek at the LalaknitsStore, and good luck trying to pick your favorite. You might be better off to buy one as a gift and one for yourself (and try not to keep them both…).
