There are a ton of creative and fun things you can do with a blank journal. Which would be why I have a whole section dedicated to this very idea. And also, why I haven’t run out of things to talk about yet. (Not so shocking since I tend to be quite chatty.)
I have to say, this particular idea is at the top of my list for cool uses. All you need is a blank journal and a willing partner (the latter might be harder to find). Or, if you’re so inclined, I highly recommend this journal that I created. Naturally, I’m quite partial to this one since I designed it (and like all my journals, the watercolor background is my own painting), it also has a little intro explaining its intended use, and lovely cream pages that would pair perfectly with your favorite pen. (Honestly, I’m a bit smitten…)
I digress… So, the gist is super simple and very similar to the Mom and Me Journal Concept. The idea is to write love letters or silly notes back and forth to your significant other, but doing so in a designated journal. It’s like a communication keepsake! Remember passing notes back and forth in school? Well, this is a bit like that, but upgraded and more sophisticated (though your notes don’t have to be). By all means, your notes can be silly, sweet, serious, mushy, or hey, spicy can be nice too… Whatever floats your boat.
Now, my husband and I have been married nearly 18 years… And while I think this idea sounds amazing, my hubby would straight up hate it. I can hear the sarcastic comments now, haha. Besides, I probably wouldn’t be able to read his sloppy ‘ol handwriting anyway. However, I know that there are plenty of people who would share my enthusiasm over this. And if you and your honey are on the same page, you should totally consider it. This activity is a fantastic way to strengthen communication and rekindle romance in your relationship.
Whatcha think? Fun, right?!
PS: Olivia really loves this journal as well, so we might be switching this one with our other Mom and Me journal. While the intro isn’t specific to romance, it doesn’t include the fun QR code with all the additional kid resources, but given that I’m the creator of said content, I think we’ll manage just fine. However, if you would also like to use this journal with your daughter instead, simply contact me with your proof of purchase and I’ll send you the link to the resources page so you can enjoy those awesome extras as well.
