Last weekend was full of conversation, delicious food, photography, and shopping. It was fantastic! I ventured to Staunton, VA to meet up with an old friend that I hadn’t seen in over a decade. It seemed like a cool halfway point between us, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Sarah and I spent the entire time gabbing about everything and exploring the town.
Before I left, my hubby cautioned me that Sarah would not likely want to spend the majority of our time taking pictures as I usually tend to do (he’s traveled with me before!). Well, bless her heart; Sarah wound up arriving about fifteen minutes before I did, and while waiting, scouted out the town for picturesque scenes! We wandered all over and I think I photographed everything I saw. Sarah even took pictures along with me, which was pretty awesome since usually I go alone …or annoy whoever I’m with by constantly stopping for photo ops haha. Needless to say, we captured a lot of great images.
After seeing the sights of the town we drove over to Shenandoah National Park to check out their Skyline Drive – and take more pictures. It was absolutely stunning. West Virginia is a beautiful state, but Virginia has some truly breathtaking mountain ranges. I know I could possibly get flogged for saying such a thing, but I’m afraid it’s true.
Once we had our fill of mountainous scenes, we journeyed forth to see what we could do about filling our tummies …again. Sarah is a bit of a foodie and seems to have quite the knack for picking out tasty restaurants. We had already enjoyed some seriously scrumptious meals for breakfast and lunch, as well as a divine wine tasting in-between, and dinner was no exception. We dined at the White Star Tavern, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’d drive the two and a half hours back just to eat their stuffed artichoke hearts. No joke.
In all, the trip was only about 24 hours, but it was grand. Time flew by and stood still all at once. I can’t wait to do it again!
…So my apologies on going overboard (there are 20 slides here!), but I had a hard time narrowing them down even that much. Like I said, I photographed everything haha.
