Wow, another year has come and gone already! I can’t believe how fast time flies by. As the end of the year rapidly approaches, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! I hope that this past year was full of great memories and moments, and that you are looking forward to a bright future. If you have made some New Year’s resolutions, I wish you all the best in keeping them. I personally gave up on resolutions quite some time ago and decided I’m simply a constant work in progress no matter the season. (Some days I think I need more work than others haha!)
I hope too, that you ring in the New Year in your own special and fun way. In honor of all the parties that I’m sure are about to ensue, I thought I’d share a recipe for a yummy punch that my dad’s cousin makes every year for the holidays. It’s a family favorite; with the exception of my great aunt who, after getting tipsy on it one year, was horrified to discover it had alcohol in it since she was a teetotaler, and of course doesn’t drink. I understand that it was innocently amusing…
Once again, Happy New Year! I wish you a fun and safe night. Please drink responsibly and plan to have a designated driver.
Open House Punch
Ingredients:
- 750 ml bottle of Southern Comfort
- 3 liters lemon-lime soda
- 6 oz lemon juice
- 6 oz can of frozen lemonade
- 6 oz can of frozen orange juice
Directions:
Mix Southern Comfort, lemon juice, lemonade and orange juice in punch bowl. Add lemon-lime soda. Float block of ice and garnish with orange and lemon slices.

- 7 oz of lemon-lime soda
- 1/2 oz (3 tsp) of lemon juice
- 1/2 oz (3 tsp) of lemonade
- 1/2 oz (3 tsp) of orange juice
