This is a prefect rainy-day activity! Not only is it super fun, quick, and easy, it’s also likely to create memorable moments. My daughter and I both love origami and games, and since this combines the two, it’s a win-win. See below for instructions and links to printable materials. I’ve made it as easy as possible because I understand life gets a bit crazy sometimes…
First, snag your printable game here. 🙂
Then, create your hopping frog. I’ve included folding instructions and even a printable square in case you don’t have any origami paper lying around. I hope that you can read my chicken scratch folding directions, but if not, you can probably find at least a thousand YouTube videos on the subject haha. (Just make sure to search for “jumping frog origami.”)
Next, feel free to decorate your little hopping frog! 🙂
Then, print out the Leaping Lily Pads Game Board.
Last, take turns hopping your frog(s) to see how many points you can collect by landing in the spaces. I decided to be a bit ambiguous with the rules so that you can make them up yourself. That way, you can decide (before starting, of course) things like what kind of landing constitutes as point-earning (i.e. whole body vs. foot touching a target area), and what marks the end of the game (i.e. time, number of leaps, set amount of points collected, etc.).
I hope you and your kiddo(s) love this activity as much as we did. Happy hopping!
PS: Don’t forget to recycle any unused paper. 😉
