Mandalas and Mindfulness coloring book surrounded by colored pencils

As you probably already know, I have a slight obsession with journals (and books in general). And I’m happy to report that I have a new publication out: Mandalas & Mindfulness. While you might be thinking that I’m stretching it a bit to squeeze it into this category, stick with me and I’ll explain why I’m featuring a coloring book in the journaling section.

For starters, I created this coloring book with a few things in mind…

  1. I didn’t want super intricate designs with minuscule spaces that take months to color in. For years, I’ve hunted for an adult coloring book that has um, well… more childlike and simple designs. (Because ain’t nobody got time for that, ha!) So, I created a coloring book that is much less intimidating, with beautiful mandala designs that you can do in one sitting.
  2. The designs are only on one side. Yep, this is an actual selling point. It makes coloring the page easier (my apologies to the lefties, if this doesn’t hold true for you!), and I had plans for this blank space…
  3. I’ve included positive affirmations at the bottom of each blank page (on the back of every design). So, when you’re coloring, you can reflect on the affirmation that accompanies it on the opposite page.
  4. And for all that white space above the affirmation…? That my friend, is where you can write down your thoughts, if you so desire. I recommend trying out the stream of consciousness journaling technique. (See, I told you there was a good reason for my featuring it in the journaling section.) You can use this space to pour out the thoughts and feelings that you’re currently experiencing, or perhaps rewrite the affirmation a few times, or leave it blank – there’s really no pressure.

So, you could say that this humble little coloring book offers a trifecta of mental health benefits. Studies have shown that coloring (even for adults!) reduces restless thoughts and is considered to be a form of meditation (which does wonders) – and it’s fun! Positive affirmations can help rewire your brain (through neuroplasticity) for happiness, resilience, and so much more. And I don’t likely need to tell you that journaling has long been touted to be extremely beneficial for your mental health. These are all good things that I want for you (and me too). I invite you to grab a copy of your own and color your world full of happiness. As an added bonus, you can download this fun freebie to use for color testing your pencils.

Wishing you a happy and colorful day.

PS: My mom and best friend frequently send me pictures of their freshly colored designs, which I just love! So, if you’d like to tag me on social media with your own creations, please feel free to do so!

PPS: I’ve found that I prefer more color choices, and if you think you might be the same, I recommend a colored pencil set of at least 100.

🙂
