I’ve discovered something new about myself… I’m a bit of a signetophile. I’ve known for a while now that I’m considered a book dragon (someone who reads and hoards books), but I also have a thing for bookmarks. This led me to see if there’s a quirky term for that too. Turns out, there isn’t an English word for it, but the French would call me a signetophile. Kinda fun; no?

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved books. And not just for the stories contained within, but also the feel of them and even the scent. I can recall from my childhood, with great fondness, more joyous trips to the local library and bookstore than to the toy store. I also adored bookmarks. They were like icing on the cake. There was just something intriguing about those narrow, laminated images with silky tassels that somehow always fell apart on me. (Go figure, kids are a bit destructive like that.)

Fast forward to adulthood, and not much has changed – except the reading content. My to-be-read pile grows steadily, and my collection of bookmarks can easily keep up with the pace of the ever-multiplying pages.

How about you? Do you also love books and bookmarks? If so, buckle up, because you’re going to love this Fun Find. And even if you’re not quite as enamored with them, you’ll still want to stick around because these make for great gifts!

I first discovered The Bookish Atelier on Instagram, and I was blown away by their dreamy bookmarks! (Social media does have its perks…) I was immediately sucked in and after poring over the entire shop, I realized it was going to be entirely too hard to pick just one. Luckily, they offer free shipping if you order a certain dollar amount – which I had zero problem reaching. (Some of the folks reading this might be getting bookmarks for Christmas – if I don’t end up keeping them – I make no promises…)

So yes; I admit, I purchased, um a few… (Don’t judge me.) Possibly my favorite is the Stargazer Window bookmark. (Maybe… it’s terribly hard to pick!) The faux leather is exquisite. And forget flimsy tassels that fall apart, it’s bedecked with beautiful, metal moons and a fabulous star charm. These bookmarks are positively glamorous and very high quality. I also especially love that they are handmade by a small woman-owned business in California.

So, if you’re a bit of a bookworm or a book dragon, or know someone who is… You should definitely check this shop out. You’ll fall in love with reading all over again.

PS: You could potentially win one of these amazing bookmarks at my Book Swap coming up on September 21st!! It’s fun and FREE! Learn more, and grab your seat today before they run out! Register here.
